The weather finally turned cold and it was time for some Arkansas timber hunting. Dixie Land Calls hunted about 20 miles outside of Marianna, AR in natural Cypress breaks. The temperature got down in the lower teens which froze up the rice fields and pushed the ducks into the breaks left open by the creek's current. We hunted with Ronnie Turner from Memphis, TN and a friend of his named Matt from Little Rock, AR. Dixie Land Calls had a great time hunting and enjoyed the fellowship of Ronnie and the other members.

Dixie Land Calls recently travelled to Northern California to hunt the Pacific Flyway. We hooked up with Vince Sanquinetti of South Wind Guide Service for a four day waterfowl adventure. Our primary hunting setup was out of steel pits strategically placed in the levees/checks of flooded rice fields. We shot several mallards, to include a hybrid, limits of pintails (one that was banded), numerous widgeons, and some teal.

Dixie Land Calls would like to thank Vince and all the guides at South Wind Guide Service for treating us like family and welcoming us into their homes. They really put in the time and effort to put us on birds and we greatly appreciated it. Thanks!

Ducks & Geese Pouring into a Field

Dixie Land Calls Pro Staffers hunted a private farm during early goose season. We hunted from layout blinds over a picked corn field and had a blast. The first morning's hunt was somewhat slow because we were not positioned in the right spot of the field. We saw a lot of geese but only managed to take a few. The very next morning we repositioned our blinds and the following pictures shows the results.
