Dixie Land Calls has more top 3 finishes in Working and Hunting Duck Call competitions than any other custom duck call maker. We pride ourselves in consistently making a quality duck call that reproduces all the sounds of a mallard hen and is versatile enough that anyone can operate them.

    2008 Working Call Contest - Reelfoot Lake

    1st place - Acrylic Division
    2nd place - Natural Wood Division

     
    The 2008 Callmakers & Collectors Association of America (CCAA) Working Call Contest was held on October 11, 2008 at Reelfoot Lake in Samburg, Tennessee. Sixty-five calls were entered into four divisions: A - Metal reed calls, B - Natural wood calls, C - Acrylic calls, and D - Open calls. This was a working call contest that was judged on the calls ability to "bring in the ducks" and the quality of construction. Injected molded and/or CNC made calls were not allowed.     The 1st & 2nd place calls in each division were awarded ribbons.

    The 1st place calls from each Division then competed for Best of Show Honors.

    Dixie Land Calls won 1st place honors in the Acrylic Division and 2nd place honors in the Natural Wood Division.

    Dixie Land Calls was also Runner-Up for Best of Show, missing out a repeat from 2007 by only 7 points.


    2008 NWTF Grand National Call Making Contest
    Hunting Duck and Goose Call Competition
    The 2008 NWTF Grand National Call Making Contest was held in conjunction with the NWTF National Convention in Atlanta, GA on February 22-24 2008. Dixie Land Calls entered two duck calls in the Hunting Duck & Goose Call Competition, wood call category and took top honors with both calls in the division. The judges consist of five of the waterfowl industries leading "duck & goose callers". Each judge must blow the calls themselves and score the calls based on the: hail call, ease of use, feed call, and overall quality of sound reproduction.

    Dixie Land Calls would like to congratulate Devlin Hodges on winning the 2007 H2XPO Junior Duck Calling Contest. The competition was held at the 2007 AL H2XPO Hooter and Hollers Calling Classic and Sportsman's Expo in Huntsville, Alabama.

    This is Devlin's second win this year also taking first place honors at the 2007 Central Alabama Junior Duck Calling Contest held earlier this year.

    Competition routines consist of a 90 second routine where callers are judged on their ability to simulate a hail call, greeting call, comeback call, and feed call in hunting style sequence. Callers are judged and scored during three rounds of competition with the highest cumulative score awarded as the winner.

    The H2XPO Junior Duck Calling Contest was open to all callers from any state that were 12 years old and under.

    Devlin is the son of Amy and Zane Hodges of Kimberly, Alabama. Devlin has a younger brother named Duncan.
    Brian Phillips (Dixie Land Calls) and Devlin Hodges (2007 H2XPO Junior Duck Calling Champion).
